#ThinkAheadThursday - FAFSA Completion Rates

Did you know
ONLY 1 in 3 REL seniors have completed
the 2015-2016 FAFSA?!
That means
2 of every 3 SENIORS are leaving
$$$ on the table
even though 8 out of 10 SENIORS plan on attending college next year!

Completing and submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the single most important thing you can do to get assistance paying for college. The U.S. Department of Education uses the FAFSA to determine students’ eligibility for federal student aid. Every year, the federal government awards about $150 billion in the form of grants, work-study funds, and low-interest loans to help millions of students pay for college. Many state governments and colleges also use the FAFSA to determine eligibility for nonfederal aid.
$150 BILLION!
Part of that could be yours - if you fill out the form!
Don't delay. Do it today!

Click here for more information about the FAFSA!

FSCJ Scholarships - Due May 25th

  4. Once on the page with the list of scholarships, click “Sign-up” (up in the top right corner).
  5. On the next page they need to use their FSCJ email to sign-up. That email will be their FSCJ student user id and @students.fscj.edu.
  6. An email will be sent their FSCJ email and they can link to the application.
    • The essay is required.
    • They need two letters of recommendations or the email addresses of two people willing to act as references.

Information for seniors about final transcripts and Florida financial aid application

Seniors-

If you were absent the day that Ms. Patterson came into your English class to help you fill out the Florida financial aid form or the blue final transcript request form, then you still need to take care of those things.

Please stop by the counseling offices and fill out a blue ‘2015 Graduate Transcript Request Form’ then give the form to your counselor.  This form will ensure that your final transcripts are sent to the college(s) of your choice during the summer (late June/early July).

You will also need to go to www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org and fill out the Florida financial aid application.  The helpful hints guide can be found here to help you with the process.  It’s really easy and it’ll only take about 15 minutes, if you need help = see your counselor.

A longer version of the classroom presentation can be found here:  http://leehighschoolgraduation.blogspot.com/2015/04/junior-classroom-guidance-lesson-from.html

The counselors will get a list of students who have errors on their Florida financial aid application, if that’s you then we will call you into our offices to help you correct the application.
