Message to Seniors from a University Admissions Officer

Pay attention to all college application requirements.  Make sure letters of recommendation, essays, ACT/SAT scores and transcripts are sent in at least two weeks before the admission deadline.

ALL senior year courses count (Universities can rescind admission if even one D or F shows up on academic history during senior year).

GPA should stay the same or go up senior year (Universities can rescind admission if GPA goes down).

Seniors should not drop rigorous coursework senior year (Universities can rescind admission if you were admitted based on rigorous coursework then dropped those courses).

Senior year courses are HIGHLY important and looked at thoroughly at Universities.  Low rigor courses can hurt a student’s chance of admission to a University.

The transition to college is easier for students if rigorous courses are taken their senior year.

Benefits of applying early to college – priority scholarships, financial aid and housing.
