• Senior Sweatshirts - If you did not purchase a Senior Package, but do want to purchase a Senior Sweatshirt, the sweatshirts will be on saleNov. 12-14 in rm 892. Cost is $35 (cash, money order, or check). Students may purchase a sweatshirt after school. This is the only time Senior Sweatshirts will be on sale separate from the Senior Package.
• FAMU will be at REL to award admissions and scholarships to seniors on Nov. 14th. Sign up with Ms. Morrison if you are interested in attending.
• Senior Ads for Yearbook - deadline Nov. 25th at 8:00 a.m. See Ms. Thomas for more information.  
• REL Toy Drive - Nov. 3-25 sponsored by the REL Junior Class Counsel. Community Drop-off date - Nov 8 from 8:00-12:00 a.m. Evening Drop-off date - Nov. 18 Free admission to the Lady Generals Basketball game on Nov. 18th with toy drop-off (conditions apply).
• Community Service Hours opportunity - Help Riverside Avondale Preservation build luminary kits. Shifts available are: Saturdays 9:00-12:00, Saturdays 12:00-3:00, and Sundays 1:00-4:00. • Yearbooks are on sale now for $65. Price increase on Jan 16 to $75. Price increases on March 14 to $85.

Ms. Patterson needs your shirt size for the college ready t-shirts.  If you have not done so already, please email Ms. Patterson at pattersons1@duvalschools.org with your name and shirt size included in the email. 

FAQ

What kind of t-shirt?

It's a regular cotton t-shirt, so send Ms. Patterson the size you would wear for that.

What if I'm not college ready right now?

E-mail Ms. Patterson your size anyway, when you ARE college ready in both math and reading then you'll get a shirt.

Do I need to tell Ms. Patterson my college placement scores (ACT, SAT, PERT)?

No, Ms. Patterson knows your scores just like Santa knows if you've been naughty or nice.

What if I don't want a shirt?

E-mail Ms. Patterson and let her know (include your name in the e-mail)

ACT scores are in (probably)

If you took the October 25 ACT, check your account at www.actstudent.org because your scores are probably in!

Duke Univeristy 2015 Summer College for High School Students

Students are provided opportunities to earn college credit and experience living in a college environment. Program runs from July 5 - July 31. Applications are being accepted now until seats are filled.

James (Coach) Day Scholarship - due Feb. 1

This scholarship is available to high school senior track and field active team member of a school participating in the current Bob Hayes Invitational Track and Field Meet may apply.  (Applicant must participate in a scheduled event at the Bob Hayes Track Meet)

Scholarship applications and all information must be postmarked and or received by February 1, 2015.

Volunteer/Community Service Opportunity - Mayor's Holiday Festival

Mayor Alvin Brown is hosting a Holiday Festival for people 60+ years old on December 6th, 2014. Volunteers are needed for this event to assist with tasks listed below. 3,000 people will be served dinner within one hour! This is an approved Bright Futures Community Service Hours event.  

JOB DESCRIPTIONS 

Set up – Need 100 people

Hours - 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

• Set up tables (tablecloths, serving ware, and goody bags, and centerpieces) 
• Stuff goody bags with cookie, fruit and other items (sample provided) 
• Pie – cut, place on plates, place plate on tables 

Greeters - Need 8-12 people 
Hours: 1 – 2 p.m.

• Monitor entrances
• Collect tickets
• Direct people to seating areas

Food servers – need 150 people
Hours - 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.

• Serve people dinner
• Work with monitors and coordinator for orderly, fast serving.   Need assistance with cleanup of Convention Center.  This will require 
• Clear tables.

The McCurry Foundation Scholarship - Due Feb. 15

The McCurry Scholarship program is open to all public high school seniors with preference given to applicants from Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns Counties, Florida and from Glynn County, Georgia. Our program emphasizes leadership in the schools and communities, work ethic evidenced by the student’s employment during high school and academic excellence demonstrated by consistently maintaining a high G.P.A. In addition, applicants must demonstrate financial need and community involvement and service.  A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required and family income cannot exceed a maximum of $75,000 (AGI).
